Subjectivity in Europe
Staff members: Professor Henretta Moore; Professor Caroline Humphrey; Dr Yael Navaro-Yashin
This network brings together social anthropologists, philosophers, psychoanalysts and sociologists concerned with he changing nature of subjectivity in Europe today. Participants come from the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford, the London School of Economics, Universiteit Utrecht, and the University of Ljubljana.
Key issues that the network is concerned with include:
• The relationship beween public outbursts of hatred, and sentiments of guilt and regret
• New models of accomplishment and failure, particularly in relation to notions of ‘celebrity’ and self-celebritisation
• The links between subjectivity and new practices of consumption – especially of technology, art, and media.
• The implications of new notions of humanity and post-humanity.
