Ambient Faith Revisited: Other Faiths, Other Secularisms in Ukraine and Beyond with Professor Catherine Wanner
The process of producing ambient faith reveals how the private and public spheres can fuse with sensorium to change the consciousness of individuals who circulate in that space (Engelke 2012). Yet, there are very significant differences between the sources and dynamics producing ambient faith in England and elsewhere in Europe. Implicit in our conceptions of Christianity is frequently an exclusive consideration of Protestantism and Catholicism. What do we miss when we refuse to take into account Orthodox Christianity, and the role it might play in political and public life in the “other” Europe?
