Archaeology and Zhangzhung: New Discoveries from Western Tibet and the High Himalayas
Despite being described as a major polity that once rivaled the early Tibetan empire, surprisingly little is known of the material manifestations of Zhangzhung. In this presentation, I will describe recent archaeological research that provides new insight into Zhangzhung ethnicity, its presumed relationship with Bon, and speculation on the origins of some of its most characteristic representations.
