Getting to Cambridge
Information about getting to Cambridge by air, rail, car, and coach is available from Visit Cambridge.
The main routes into Cambridge are shown on the University Map. For the most direct route to Free School Lane, exit at Junction 11 of the M11 and follow the A1134 (Trumpington Road) through Trumpington into the centre of Cambridge. Please note there is some metered street parking on Free School Lane.
Cambridge is less than an hour away from London by train with frequent departures from King’s Cross and Liverpool Street stations. Timetable information is available from National Rail Enquiries. There is a taxi rank at Cambridge Station, which is approximately 1 mile from the city centre, as shown on the University Map. Alternatively, the walk from the station to Free School Lane takes about 25 minutes.
The central drop-off point for bus services is at the city bus station on Drummer Street (indicated on the University Map). Further information about bus routes and timetables is available from Visit Cambridge or the County Council website.
National Express operates coach services between Cambridge and Stansted, Luton, Heathrow and Gatwick airports (telephone +44 (0) 8717 818181). This is a less expensive option than rail, but slower.
Rail services operate between Cambridge and Stansted, Heathrow and Gatwick. Timetables and tickets are available from National Rail Enquiries or from the UK call National Rail Enquiries on 034570 48 49 50.
