Peter Griffin (Kings College 2003-2007) studied Soc Anth at undergrad. Supervised by greats from the department (Laidlaw, Hugh-Jones, MacFarlane and Englund) he wrote his final dissertation on how the Ugandan U21 national football team use, believe and talk about Witchcraft.

Since studying at Cambridge he has worked at Google, made official editions of Monopoly for countries across Africa, ran the UK business at what3words and is now the founder of an anti-scam intelligence company, AVIEL Intelligence. AVIEL uses AI intelligence gathering techniques to infiltrate scam networks and talk to scammers. They scam scammers... and return useful intelligence to help banks protect their customers from becoming scam victims.

In this talk Peter will share how the lessons learnt from socanth have helped his company take on the dark world of financial criminals. He'll show real examples from scammer chats, introduce us to some real scammers across the world ... and share how, they too, use, believe and talk about Witchcraft.
