The Ridgeway-Venn Travel Fund provides travel studentships to help current students of Anthropology or Archaeology advance knowledge in their subjects. Preference is given in alternate years to students of Anthropology and students of Archaeology.
In 2023 preference will be given to students of Archaeology.
Basis for granting the award
Any member of the University in statu pupillari shall be eligible provided that: either
(a) on the day on which the travel is due to begin the student will have completed the requirements for the B.A. Degree having obtained honours in Archaeology or Social Anthropology in at least one Part of the Archaeology Tripos or Human, Social, and Political Sciences Tripos; and provided that the student intends to complete the travel before the end of the academical year next following that in which he or she completed the requirements for the B.A. Degree; or
(b) on the day on which the travel is due to begin the student has been a postgraduate registered student for not more than one year, working under the supervision of the Archaeology, Anthropology, and Sociology Degree Committee for the Faculty of Human, Social, and Political Science; and provided that the student intends to complete the travel before the end of the academical year next following that in which he or she was admitted as a postgraduate registered student.
How to Apply
Applicants should write to the Fund with brief details of their proposed project, including dates of travel, a short description of the nature and purpose of the research project (usually no more than one A4 page) and an itemised estimated budget.
