About
The Cambridge University Social Anthropology Society (CUSAS) is delighted to welcome Professor Perig Pitrou for a talk entitled: “From the Anthropology of Life to the Anthropology of Astrobiology”. Professor Pitrou's visit to Cambridge is funded by the Leverhulme Centre for Life in the Universe (LCLU) Visitor Programme. Professor Pitrou is an anthropologist and a Senior Researcher at the CNRS, currently based at the Maison Française d’Oxford. He leads the research group “Anthropology of Life” within the Laboratoire d’Anthropologie Sociale at the Collège de France. He is also co-director of the “Off Earth Atlas” project (UCL/Université PSL: https://offearth.cargo.site) and co-Principal Investigator of the “SHS Approach to Origins” work package in the framework of the French National Astrobiology Program. In his presentation, Professor Pitrou will first introduce the main orientations of his project on the “Anthropology of Life” before discussing how this emerging field has provided a conceptual foundation for developing new research directions in the “Anthropology of Astrobiology” and the “Anthropology of Space Exploration”.
