CUSAS Workshop with Shohei Nakamoto 中本翔平美味しい人類学: コーヒーの試飲 / Delicious Anthropology: A Coffee-Tasting Experience
Shohei Nakamoto is an exuberant travelling barista and "coffee anthropologist" from Japan, who combines his love for coffee with his curiosity about other countries and cultures. He has hosted coffee ceremonies in South Korea, Thailand, Myanmar, Jamaica, the US, Germany, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, and France before coming to the UK. At this special CUSAS event, Shohei will briefly reflect on how coffee is valued in different communities and how it connects people, and how these coffee ceremony tours constitute his own vision of "anthropological fieldwork". Bringing beans he roasted in Japan, he will demonstrate the brewing procedure, give attendees the chance to have a go themselves, and we will taste his coffee. (Please note, participants are encouraged to pay £2-3 to help cover the cost of the beans and cups)
