From the Warzone to the Courtroom- Anthropology on the Frontlines

In this talk, I draw on my experiences working «beyond academia» for the UN peacekeeping forces during the war in Bosnia-Herzegovina (1992-95), as an expert witness for the War Crimes Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia and in a later criminal case. I discuss in what ways my training as an anthropologist gave me unique insights, informed how I approached my work, and how my experiences with the war and its aftermath have formed me as an anthropologist.
