Rethinking with Dr Mikkel Kenni Bruun (University of Cambridge and Kings College London)

Guest interviewer: Marni Owen (MPhil student in Health Medicine Society)

Different modes of monitoring are integral to many aspects of health in the UK, in clinical settings particularly, but also beyond: people are encouraged to monitor their bodies and minds in everyday contexts of care – from fitness to mindfulness – in the pursuit of wellbeing. In this session, we follow Dr Mikkel Kenni Bruun (University of Cambridge and King’s College London) and his thinking journey through the question of mental health and the practices of self-monitoring that increasingly surround it.

This event is organised by the CUSAS Health and Wellbeing Discussion Group, as part of the 'Health and Wellbeing: (Re)thinking with Anthropologists' series for the 2023-2024 academic year. The session will begin with a 30-40 minute interview, followed by a Q&A and wider discussion. For any inquiries or ideas, please don't hesitate to email the convenor Zihan Xu (PhD student), at zx298@cam.ac.uk.
