CUSAS workshop - Sound Essay with Dr Tim Cooper
SIGN-UP needed
This workshop asks, how might we devise a podcast or radio format suited to anthropological analysis and critique? We might look to proponents of Sound Art, such as Alvin Lucier’s studies of reverberant spaces, techniques of sound-mapping and soundwalking, contemporary ethnomusicology-inspired radio, and even the characteristics of the essay film genre. After listening to what might be borrowed from these existing forms, we will discuss issues specific to producing anthropological sound essays.
Spaces are limited. Those interested in attending should email Dr Timothy Cooper (tpc40@cam.ac.uk).
Participants will be given a number of Camthropod episodes to listen to before the workshop and be asked to prepare an idea for a sound essay that could be derived from existing or future research to discuss with the group.
