Department of Social Anthropology

Biography

My study focuses on the workings of development and the ethical dilemmas that development interventions raise among the occupied. I intend to study the life histories and experiences of Jerusalemite Palestinians who work in Israeli state-led development projects and thus are uniquely positioned between the state and their communities.

Prior to my PhD, I studied at the department’s MPhil programme. Before that, I received a master’s degree (Magna Cum Laude) in International Development from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2018), and a BA in Islam and Middle Eastern Studies and Political Science also from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2016).

Research Title: Between Normalization and Normal Lives: Israeli Development Strategies in Occupied East Jerusalem
Supervisor: Professor Yael Navarro
